Preliminary tax assessment for conversion from van to passenger car
If you wish to convert a van into a passenger car, this will result in an increased registration tax. This non-binding assessment provides a precise indication of the tax amount, offering a solid basis for planning the total costs.
Tax calculation*
When the car is ready for license plates – whether it concerns import, a previously leased vehicle, or a conversion to a passenger car – the final registration tax is calculated. The amount, along with the cost of license plates and service fee, is then paid. The tax is paid directly to the Danish Tax Authority (Motorstyrelsen), ensuring correct registration.
Our service fee includes an administration charge of DKK 1,250, a guarantee commission of 2.25% of the tax amount (minimum DKK 1,250), and an additional fee of DKK 500 for conversions to passenger cars.
Tax calculation (electric)
The tax is calculated for electric vehicles with an original Danish new price, including equipment, of under DKK 370,000.**
Conversion of van (physical)
In most cases, it will be more practical and cost-effective to arrange the conversion directly with a local workshop. Of course, the conversion can also be handled by us. Contact us for further information.

Good to know about our tax calculation
We always follow the guidelines set by the Danish Tax Agency regarding importation. It is, therefore, important that we get as much information as possible from you about the car. The information may include advertisement details from mobile.de, the vehicle identification number or an equipment list. In this way, we can take any tax deductions into account.
When the car arrives in Denmark, the inspection centre considers any additional equipment in the car and records it in the Register of Motor Vehicles (DMR), so that the Tax Agency has the correct basis for assessment. For example, safety equipment and child seats can give a deduction, while other equipment can mean a higher tax.
